Check out Zach and Vanessa’s Downtown Engagement Photos from our shoot together below!
A few years ago, one of Vanessa’s dear friends was getting married and of course the bride invited Vanessa and a guest to attend the big day. At the time Vanessa wasn’t dating anyone and planned to go to the wedding with 4 friends- 2 of which were married, and the other two engaged. Obviously Vanessa didn’t want to be the 5th wheel, so she started chatting with her friends, trying to decide who would make a fun wedding date. They came to the conclusion that Zach would be perfect and he did not disappoint! Everyone had a great time, and Vanessa’s friends loved him! After that, the two began spending more and more time together and eventually Zach asked Vanessa to be his permanent wedding date! In fitting style, the two have decided to celebrate their wedding on the most fun night of the year- New Year’s Eve! I can’t wait to capture all of the excitement this December at The Stanley in Lee’s Summit, MO!
When Vanessa and I started chatting about what they envisioned for their engagement session, she had very specific inspiration. She also has a very unique connection to many of the iconic buildings that make up the Kansas City Skyline. Vanessa shared with me that her dad has been a part of the construction of buildings like the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts, The Sprint Center, Bartle Hall, and many others. He specifically was an ironworker, which makes sense because each of the buildings she listed have that unique characteristic. Vanessa even has childhood memories of the opening party for Bartle Hall and signing a beam that went up into the building! Of course I was basically drooling as she politely requested we incorporate these pieces of architecture into their session. As someone who used to study architecture, I happily facilitated. 🙂Â
Remember how at the very beginning, I mentioned that Vanessa first asked Zach to be her friend/date to the wedding because of how fun he is? We didn’t have fun at all at their engagement shoot. In fact it was so bland, I hardly got any fun shots, and definitely didn’t capture any funny Zach faces… I’m kidding of course! See for yourself. 🙂
