Every wedding I shoot has it’s own personality. Obviously the people, places, and events craft a unique story. It sometimes baffles me how the same series of events can play out with such different emotions and tones. This wedding was a drastic departure from what I would say my norm is, and I liked that. I liked that a lot.
These people were living. They weren’t waiting for the next ‘supposed to’ event. They were completely present in each other’s company and that’s not something I have any control over. There is either innate life to a couple, or there isn’t. These two and their giant bridal party were so present in every moment; it was one of the first times I can remember I’ve ever feeling like a witness to a dream. They knew I was there but there was no regard for what was flattering, dirty, distracting- there were no ‘supposed to’s’ . Emily and Zach are so in love, on a deep spiritual level and it was not only infectious, but it was admirable. They were celebrating with their families for the sake of love and nothing else.
It was a beautiful wedding full of lovely coordinating details, but those weren’t their focus, so they weren’t really mine either. Breaking this wedding down into my usual categories seems almost insulting, so I’m not going to. I tried my best to capture their dream state of committing their lives together with God and the elation that resulted. Emily and Zach are just the most genuine of people, and they were fully present every second of their wedding day.
So here it is:
Emily and Zach-
Thank you so much for taking me along with you to Emily’s hometown, and welcoming me with open arms. Your wedding holds a special place in my memory bank. Thank you for reminding me that a wedding should be focused on the only thing that matters – love. 🙂
