Tara and Marc are the perfect compliment to each other. Something I truly love about my job is seeing how God designs people to fit together- or the universe, if that’s more your jam. When you see Marc and Tara together it can be physically obvious because they’re both so gloriously tall and graciously tolerated me bringing a step stool along for our shoot, however; when you get to know them, you realize their height is just the tip of the iceberg. Tara and Marc work in completely opposite professional worlds, but these differences only balance them out. They’re both super kind, easy going people who share a love for the Royals. We had the luckiest weather day ever, their shoot was a blast, and I know their October wedding won’t disappoint! Check out some of my favorite shots from their Kansas City Engagement Session below!
I can’t help but include some of these candid shots in their blog post. The wind was just right and they were having so much fun together!
These closeups are some of my favorites! I also love how Tara’s hair is practically glowing 24/7.
You can’t take images in one of the most classic pieces of architecture in Kansas City and not have a dipping kiss!
We were so lucky to have caught some of the blooming trees before that random freeze zapped them all! I loved the contrast of their bold outfits and the white trees. Oh! Not to mention their playful smiles.
Sometimes I feel guilty for taking bright, colorful images and making them black and white. This was one of those times, but I couldn’t resist that light and those expressions!
This next chunk of them sitting under these trees may be my favorite little stretch from their entire shoot.
They were just so relaxed and candid, and cool. Tara did a great job styling them, because let’s be honest, when you’re shooting a girl who oversees creative projects for a living, you kinda appreciate how much she just gets it!
These are so warm and bright! I’m so glad spring has SPRUNG!!
We did not plan this spot at all, but the crisp charcoal wall, paired with their bold colors and Tara’s glowing hair were a no-brainer. Perfect for the more urban part of our Engagement shoot.
Ummm hello how lovely are these people?! Their happiness is evident. They light each other up and it’s been so fabulous to have been able to capture their love!
One of my favorite things about Kansas City is the texture. Instead of abandoning old places, we embrace the character and find ways to make the old cool again. Whoever cared enough to freshly paint this perfect crisp wall, I am so thankful!
How often do you conveniently bump into a blue and gold wall, AND your clients conveniently and simultaneously have packed their Royals gear just in case?! The answer is when the stars allign. 😉 Just kidding. We did randomly stumbled upon this wall and it turned out to be perfect!
Marc and Tara had their very first date at Westport Cafe. I was thrilled when Tara mentioned she might like to take a few pictures there. I love injecting important details into each shoot. It makes things so much more personal!
