These two basically took me on a behind the scenes tour of their favorite spots in the zoo – a home away from home for them, as Sara is a keeper. It was the most special experience to learn about their love as a couple but also to see this place they adore so much through their eyes- even Jake who isn’t a zoo keeper knew all of the animals by name, their stories, and shared memories the two have had with them. Even animals we didn’t see (like the lions) recognized Sara’s voice (or so I’m convinced) when we were near their enclosure and roared in excitement as if they weren’t ready to go to bed yet!
It was so special to be able to hang out with the kangaroos – whose enclosure isn’t so inclosed, but you do need a keeper with ya and special permission to enter their turf, just fyi! 😉 Sara works closely with the Asian animals too, but it wasn’t quite as safe for us to cozy up to them for photo ops. 😜
We were able to capture such fun shots with the kangaroos, the swinging suspension bridge, as well as the ‘sky tram’ to snag some arial perspective of the gorgeous changing foliage.
Sara and Jake will be married this Fall at Redemptorist Church and The Everly, and I can’t wait for their big day! It’s going to have some animal nods, too!
^^ Is that not the cutest photo bomber you’ve EVER seen?!
